Review Clinic

There is a review clinic from 9 to 11am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, where patients with soft tissue injuries and infections and some simple fractures are followed up. Medical conditions, other than spontaneous pneumothoraces and possible DVTs, should be followed up by GP and not in the Review Clinic. Ongoing conditions such as non-traumatic back or limb pain should not be referred to the Review Clinic but should also be referred back to the GP.

Injuries where the diagnosis is certain should normally be reviewed at 7 to 10 days. Where the diagnosis is uncertain and a senior opinion is required they should be seen within 24-48 hours. Do not refer a patient to the Review Clinic for a senior opinion when there is a Consultant available in the department. When referring a patient to the clinic do not tell them what treatment or investigations they will receive, as the Consultant may disagree with your plan.
