Abdominal Injuries

In severe multi system or penetrating trauma, the Resus team will be called.  
 
Isolated abdominal trauma
If you suspect an abdominal injury in a patient with less severe trauma:
- Control haemorrhage if possible
- 1 or 2 large bore IV lines as appropriate
- Bloods for  FBC, U&E, Group and save / X-match, amylase
- Examine urine 
- Seek senior ED/ surgical advice. 
 
Macroscopic haematuria following trauma
-  Seek senior ED advice.  
-  Discuss with urology.  
-  Consider CT. 
 
Microscopic haematuria  
-  Of little significance in absence of other signs.
