Post-coital Contraception
The Emergency Department is not an appropriate place for dispensing the morning after pill as these women require counselling and follow up.

 Missed Pills

• If a user is more than 12 hours late with a pill they should resume ASAP. However they will not be protected for the next 7 days.
• Users are not protected if 2 or more pills missed from first seven days of packet or if 4 mid-cycle pills missed (i.e. pill-free interval effectively > 4 days).
• First and last pills missed increase risk of failure due to increased pill-free days.
